Tavistock College School Hall

Tavistock College school hall is located inside Tavistock College and it available for us to hire for free. It has a capacity of 250 seated guests, which is more than enough, and there is no time limits on the venue. We would not have to pay anything to have the concert in the school hall because we can use all of the music departments equipment, PA system, lighting, and all venue staff at no extra cost. The only thing that we would have to pay for would be refreshments. There are no age limits on the venue and we would be able to set up and rehearse during the day time free of charge. Due to this venue being virtually free, we would not make anything but profit. Never the less we would aim to sell about all 250 tickets to pack out the venue and maximize our profit.

Tavistock Town Hall

Tavistock Town Hall is located in the center of Tavistock and it is available to hire for £225 for a full day. It has a capacity of 200 seated guests however there is a time limit on the Town Hall as we would only have a day to hire it for. We wouldn't have to pay for any music equipment because we would borrow it from Tavistock College however, the town hall does have a PA system installed so we would have to pay an extra £10 to use. For the use of full lighting we would have to pay £40 and for the privilege of using their portable bar we would have to pay an extra £70. There are no age limits on the venue however there are time limits, which is how long we would hire the venue for.We would be able to rehearse during the day as we would hire the Town hall for a full day. The total cost for hiring the Tavistock Town Hall would be £355. Having to spend this much, it would be more difficult to make a profit so we would have to raise the ticket price which we didn't want to do.

The Wharf

The Wharf is located near the center of Tavistock. It has a total capacity of 200 seated guests however there is a time limit on The Wharf as we would only have a day to hire it for. We wouldn't have to pay for any music equipment as, again, we would borrow it all from Tavistock College. They have state of the art lighting and PA system. The use of the bar would be included in the total cost of hiring the venue and there is no age limits of the venue. If we rented the venue of a whole day, we would be able to rehearse during the day. The total cost of hiring The Wharf would be £1000 which would be more than we would be looking to spend on a venue however The Wharf is the best equipped to host our spring concert. With such an expensive hiring cost, we would have to raise the ticket price further to produce a profit from our concert.

Final Decision

Finally we decided that we would have our concert in the Tavistock College School hall for a number of reasons. The School Hall has the best capacity out of the three and it is extremely well equipped for our concert. The main reason, however, that we chose to go with the School Hall was that it was free for us to use so we would be making a huge saving by choosing the School Hall and this way we can maximize our profit by choosing the School Hall.
